Hi, and thanks for stopping by.
Since September means the official arrival of autumn (which I couldn't be happier about, considering how anti-sun my red hair and freckles make me) I thought it would be fun to do a seasonal book tag. This one was originally created by Shanah from Bionic Bookworm and I'd like to tag any of you reading to answer these questions too!!
1. Crisp Fall Air – A
Book That Felt Fresh & New
For me, in 2018 at least, this would probably be Francesca Zappia's writing. I've read Eliza and her Monsters and Made You Up by Francesca this year, and both felt like nothing I'd read before; contemporaries with so much depth, complexity and widespread exploration of real-life issues. Francesca Zappia will definitely be on my auto-buy-author list for the indefinite future and I cannot wait to read more of her work.
2. Howling Winds –
An Ending That Blew You Away
Perhaps this isn't a traditional answer to this question, because there was nothing spectacular or shocking about the ending of John Green's Turtles All The Way Down. However, the last few pages were so beautifully written, mental illness so wonderfully explored. Overall, it was such a brave departure from "happily ever after", magical cure cop-out ending.
3. Leaf Fight – A Book
With Non-Stop Action
I don't read a lot of books that include action, really... fantasy and such genres aren't really my thing. I did go through a phase of really enjoying dystopian, but even that isn't something I reach for too much anymore. My favourite kind of fantasy is anything witch-related, so I guess my favourite non-stop action style witchy read is the Worldwalker trilogy by Josephine Angelini. It's a hugely underrated series in my opinion; I read it last year and gave out five-stars aplenty!!
4. Pumpkin Spice –
Your Most anticipated Read
My most anticipated read for the rest of 2018 would probably have to be Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli's upcoming collaborative project, What If It's Us. I love both of these authors so much and I cannot wait to see what a joint work of theirs will be like.
5. Comfy Sweaters –
A Book That Gives You The Warm & Fuzzies
For me this will always be the Harry Potter series. This year, I'm slightly behind on my reread; it usually something I do during the summer months, but I'm just halfway through Half-Blood Prince as we speak, in September. I'm kind of really enjoying reading them a little later in the year too, especially the later books, as things get darker and more atmospheric.
6. Bright Colours –
A Cover with Either Red, Orange or Yellow
(This book isn't autumnal at all, but I adore this front cover, and the colours are so festive for this time of year!!)
So those are the autumnal, bookish questions! If you get around to answering them yourselves, please let me know by tweeting me the link (@ECbookblog). Looking forward to reading them!!
Till next time
Katie
I might do this tag because fall is my favorite season. I still need to read a Zappia book. I have one sitting on my shelf. I’m looking forward to What If It’s Us, too.
